This week we participated in the Sea Cargo Charter’s fourth annual meeting, held in Oslo this week. Hosted by our colleagues at Klaveness Combination Carriers, this significant event brought together key industry leaders, including Equinor, Trafigura, and Cargill, to discuss and advance the shipping industry’s decarbonization initiatives.

Advancing decarbonization initiatives

At Klaveness Digital, we share a common ambition: to create a resilient, decarbonized, and cost-effective supply chain. Through our supply chain solution, CargoValue, we are actively contributing to this goal. It was inspiring to witness the shipping community come together to address critical issues such as:

  • New emission targets aligning with the IMO's revised strategy for a 100% reduction in emissions by 2050.

  • Enhanced collaboration through the expansion of scope to include shipowners, fostering greater accountability and transparency.

  • Increased reporting as more comprehensive reporting requirements were introduced to enhance transparency and data accuracy.

A milestone event

Rasmus Bach Nielsen, Sea Cargo Charter Chair, emphasized the significance of this year’s meeting, stating, “Our Annual Meeting arrives at a critical moment. Our signatories are poised to report against the latest and more ambitious IMO targets for the first time, demonstrating our commitment to evolving environmental standards.”

This milestone event marked a pivotal moment for the shipping industry, as we collectively take steps towards a sustainable future. The engagement and collaboration seen at the meeting reflect a unified commitment to reducing our environmental impact and improving industry practices.

Our commitment

At Klaveness Digital, we are honored to contribute to these efforts through helping our customers optimizing their supply chains and reducing waste. We remain steadfast in our commitment to advancing sustainability within the maritime industry. Our work through CargoValue is a testament to our dedication.

As we move forward, we look to continue our collaborative efforts with industry leaders, stakeholders, and partners. Together, we can achieve a sustainable and efficient supply chain, setting new standards for environmental stewardship.

We invite you to join us on this journey towards a greener future. Stay tuned for more updates and insights on our continued efforts to drive sustainability and innovation within the shipping industry.
